When we get into the car with our parents or friends, we often park and don’t know where to leave the car and forget its position. A popular trick that many of us have done is to send someone our location on WhatsApp, then access it quickly. But this trick, besides being a hassle and annoying, will no longer be necessary since Google Maps has finally decided to incorporate this long-awaited feature.
More specifically, we are talking about the Save Your Parking feature, a new service in the English beta of Google Maps that allows you to activate the ability to store this parking location, which will be marked on the map with a large “P” to indicate that spot.

P marks the spot on Google Maps
But if you want the app to offer you much more, we can set how much parking time we have left by filling out a form once we park. Additionally, this “P” will remain on the map until you click “Clear” and remove that parking spot or until you save a new location.

The funny thing about all this is that, as we read in Xataka, Google Now had already done this marking, but automatically. When the GPS detected that we were stationary for a while and at zero speed, it assumed we had parked the car. But what Google is looking for now with this new move is to encourage greater data collection on where the car is (in underground parking, the level of the parking lot you are in, or in areas where we don’t have GPS) to facilitate a task that has made us all a bit anxious.
As always, this feature will come for Android and iOS users, specifically we will be able to enjoy this service with the version 9.49 of the famous Google Maps app.
